2 year Postdoctoral Research Assisant in Edinburgh University

As a Research Associate in the Centre for the study of Environmental Change and Sustainability (CECS) you will plan and undertake research on the development of Agent-Based models (ABM) of land use change in urban and rural environments. You will contribute to the conceptual design and implementation of new models that seek to integrate biophysical and human processes of environmental change. The research will contribute to a number of different European Commission funded projects within a team of land use change specialists. Experience in developing models of human behaviour and decision making is preferred.
You will be expected to publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals, participate in international conferences and you will help to prepare proposals for funding future research and development in related areas.

You will have a first degree and a PhD (or expectation of imminent
award) in Computer sciences, GeoSciences, Environmental Sciences, or another highly pertinent area of environmental research and experience. You will provide leadership in the development of novel environmental modelling techniques and will be ready to engage rapidly with this demanding and fast-moving field.

Should you require a visa to undertake paid employment in the UK you will be required to fulfil the minimum points criteria to be granted a Certificate of Sponsorship and Tier 2 visa. As appropriate, at the time an offer of appointment is made to you, you will be asked to demonstrate that you fulfil the criteria in respect of financial maintenance and competency in English.
