University of Kassel, Position for a scientific assistant, code number 15751The Center for Environmental Systems Research at the University ofKassel is offering one PhD Candidate position (50%) in the context ofthe SPREAD project funded by German Federal Ministry of Education andResearch.The SPREAD (Scenarios of Perception and Reaction to Adaptation) projectaims to develop spatially and temporally explicit computer simulationswhich model the diffusion of changed patterns of behaviour andinterpretation in the face of climate change in Germany. The simulationswill be based on a) qualitative surveys, b) network analyses, c) asurvey on problem perceptions, options for actions, patterns ofattitudes as well as d) spatially explicit demographic and lifestyledata including their projection until 2020 which are available to theproject partners.Tasks: To conceptualise social phenomena and to develop agent-basedmodels in Java, to collaborate in presentations and publications.Requirements: Degree in computer science, mathematics / systems scienceor psycology or social sciences; good methodical knowledge; interest ininterdisciplinary science, basic knowledge of Java or agent-based modelling.For information please feel free to contact Andreas Ernst,[email protected] date for applications: 24th of April 2011.Please apply electronically to our university‚Äôs administration (email [email protected] and mention code number 15751.
