About CoMSES 2017

Welcome to the inaugural CoMSES Net virtual conference, CoMSES 2017!

CoMSES Net brings together scholars who develop and use computational models in the social, environmental, and sustainability sciences. As a member of the NSF West Big Data Innovation Hub, CoMSES Net is dedicated to fostering open, reusable, and reproducible scientific computation through cyberinfrastructure and community development. As the CoMSES community has grown over the years we continue to actively explore different ways to engage members and have lined up 18 presentations with topics varying from fisheries to human migration, and archaeology to business administration. From October 2nd to October 20th, 2017 you can engage with the speakers and other participants in discussions related to these presentations. Most presentations that involve computational models will have their model code and documentation available so you can dive into the specifics of the model. We hope this virtual conference experiment will provide new ways for the CoMSES computational modeling community to interact and engage!

Each presentation will have its own thread, please keep discussion about a presentation within that topic. Thank you!

Thanks you for a great first virtual conference! I hope it will come back next year. Especially appreciated talks that combined first a presentation then some hand-holding taking the viewer through the model, as in the case of Miguel Pais presentation for example. I will aim for that structure if a next opportunity comes about. Best Emilie
