Fully funded PhD position in Sociology / Computational Modelling on Reconciling Demographic and Epistemic Diversity

We are looking for a PhD candidate to conduct a project on the interface of sociology / computational modelling and philosophy. The project is titled “Reconciling epistemic and demographic diversity” and will be located at the Sociology Department of the University of Groningen. The PhD will be supervised by Andreas Flache, Michael Mäs and Jan-Willem Romeijn, aspiring an interdisciplinary approach which combines insights from formal modelling (ABM) of opinion dynamics in sociology and formal epistemology in philosophy with experiments in the lab and field. The project is part of the transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research programme SCOOP: Roadmaps to Resilient Societies (see: http://www.scoop-program.org) and the PhD candidate will participate in the SCOOP training program.
